Saya tergerak untuk ‘membantu’ memberi jawaban singkat atas pertanyaan mahasiswa tsb. Sekiranya Anda rasa jawaban terlampir bermanfaat, silakan di-share dengan anak2 muda Muslim yang sedang membincangkannya. Namun jika tidak, saya mohon maaf sebesar2nya telah mengambil waktu Anda untuk membacanya.
Karena perdebatan dalam video dilakukan dalam bahasa Inggris, saya berasumsi orang Indonesia yang mem-bincangkan-nya-pun mengerti bahasa itu.Oleh karenanya, jawaban terlampir saya tulis dalam bahasa Inggris juga. Pada initinya, saya mengatakan: bagi yang meyakini Tuhan itu Maha Pencipta, kenapa kok susah memikirkan bahwa Tuhan juga yang telah menciptakan evolusi — seandainya akhirnya teori tsb bisa dibuktikan benar adanya? Perpecahan Theisme dan Deisme terjadi dalam konteks Barat dan Kristen – yang berbeda konteks dengan Islam (mengingat Tuhan-nya Islam ‘Maha Bisa Apa Saja‘ – bukan hanya ‘Maha Kasih’). Jadi menurut saya ikut2an mempertentangkan teori evolusi dan agama bisa jadi ‘out of place’ dalam konteks Islam.

Bantuan Jawaban untuk Zakir Naik atas pertanyaan seorang ex-Muslim atheist tentang Teori Evolusi

The dispute over theory of evolution is a good example of context-dependent issue. In a nutshell, the bone of contention between creationists (religious people) and evolutionists (scientists) is the split between theism and deism in the West (which might have not been the case of Islam). Theism believes that God not only exists but also is directly involved in the world. Deism, on the other hand, pictures God as the great clockmaker – created the clock, wound it up, and let it go. Darwin theory of evolution suits very well in Deism. Apparently, it has far reaching philosophical implications beyond the sphere of biological sciences. Darwinian evolutionism; positivistic belief in science; and racism have altogether become a rationale for unbridled imperialism. If thought through intelligently, though, a believer should have no problem accepting theory of evolution without being Darwinian. Here is my point: If one believes that God is the Creator of everything, why is it difficult to think that God created evolutionary process as well? What made him/her think God can’t do that? Even if science in the end can prove without doubts, that human being did emerge out of the evolutionary process, the creation of human in the Quran can explain this very well. In Surah al-Hijr (Q:15:28- 29) God said: “Recall when God said unto the angels: I’m creating a mortal from a ringing clay (potter clay) made of decayed mud. So when I have made him perfect and breathed unto him of My Spirit, then you must fall down before him in prostration” (Q:15:28-29) (Note: human is placed in higher level than the angels in Islamic faith). The sentence, “when I have made him perfect and breathed unto him of My Spirit” has been very categorizing about human being and animal. Human has God’s Spirit whereas animal not. Therefore, a devout Muslim can accept theory of evolution without being Darwinian. While in Darwinian paradigm, races were thought to represent different stages of evolutionary advancement with the white race at the top, the Quran, in contrast, tells God created mankind in races and tribes s
