MALAYA MOUNTAIN (Pegunungan Melayu)
Menurut mitologi india “Vaivasvata Manu” (yang mirip dengan cerita Nabi Nuh AS) setelah banjir besar, bahtera Manu terdampar di atas pegunungan “MALAYA”.

Kata MALAYA diduga berasal dari kata ma-a,mal-ei dari bahasa Dravida yang berarti bukit atau “pegunungan”.
Di Al-Qur’an disebutkan bahtera Nabi Nuh AS berlabuh di Judiyy. Salah satu tafsir arti kata Judiyy adalah “pegunungan”.
Pulau Jawa (YAVA DVIPA) dan Sumatera(MALAYA DVIPA?) terdapat dalam teks Vayu Purana, dan kerajaan Ravana disebutkan terletak di MALAYA DVIPA. Di MALAYA DVIPA (Pulau Melayu=Sumatera) terdapat MALAYA MOUNTAIN (Pegunungan Malayu = Supervolcano Toba?).

In the Vayu Purana (Bhuvanavinyasa, ch.48), the author describes the six isles round about Jambu Dvipa, as follows :
(i)Anga Dvipa, (ii)YAVA DVIPA, (iii)MALAYA DVIPA, (iv)Kusa Dvipa, (v)Sankha Dvipa and (vi)Varaha Dvipa. The third in the above list, viz., MALAYA DVIPA is further described in verses 20-30 of the same chapter.It is said about this island that there are many gold mines there and the population consist of several classes of Mlecchas. There is a great mountain named Malaya containing silvermines. Heavenly bliss is obtained on the mountain on every Parva or Amavasya day. The famous Trikuta mountain is also situated on this island. The mountain is very extensive and has several beautiful valleys and summits. The great city called Sri Lanka is founded on one of the slopes of this mountains. Its length is hundred Yojanas while its breadth is 30 Yojanas. To The east of this island lies a great Siva temple in a holy place called Gokarna.
Pulau Srilangka yang sekarang dianggap adalah tempat kerajaan Ravana sebenarnya tidak memenuhi kriteria ukuran, karena kerajaan Alengka Ravana mempunyai panjang sekitar 1288 km. Pulau Sumatera lebih masuk akal dalam hal ini.
